The new DL digital microwave link is used
for the transmission of digital data (transport stream) from a signal
sourced from a standard MPEG2 encoder or multiplexer, up to 48Mbit/s.
QPSK is the type of modulation used, according to the DVB-S standard (EN
300 421), which allows the demodulation of the signal using commercially
available equipment for satellite reception. The ASI-QPSK modulator is
built in a plug-.in module mounted in a 3HE rack with the other
transmission modules. This module has been designed to be used with IF
70MHz transmitting systems and it permits the use of one type of digital
modulator for any frequency range. This modulator is suitable for use
with most pre-existent analog systems. The FEC and the symbol rate
settings could be easily programmed using jumpers inside the module,
without the need of any computer or specific software. Also the choice
of the input signal, ASI or serial-data, serial clock could be selected
by a jumper inside the module. The DL-TX transmitter is available for
various frequency ranges and output powers (see the table). The DL-RX
receiver is composed of an up converter which down converts the
receiving channel into L band (950-2150MHz) and a professional satellite
receiver with standard ASI and Audio and Video output signals. The up
converter is available in a 1HE rack for indoor use or in an outdoor
weatherproof metal case. |
